AMD brings Fluid Motion Frames support to Radeon RX 6000 GPUs

AMD has recently launched Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF), with the technology debuting with support for RX 7000 series graphics cards. Now, the company is expanding AFMF support to the Radeon RX 6000 series with the release of the Adrenalin Edition Preview Driver 23.30.

This driver, which builds on the previous week's release, adds Fluid Motion Frames support for the Radeon RX 6000 series. While the driver may install on other hardware, as was the case with the previous version, it may not support AFMF on GPUs not included in the list of supported devices.

AFMF works by adding frame-generation technology to games that do not support FSR3 technology completely. Because AFMF runs independently and at the driver level, game creators are not required to offer explicit support for it. This also implies that AFMF will not contain the FSR3 upscaling component.

While support for the RX 6000 and RX 7000 series is currently available, AFMF compatibility for additional architectures has yet to be verified.

The updated 23.30 driver is now available for download from the AMD website. For now, this technology is only supported in 20 games (listed here). As previously stated, AFMF may be enabled globally using HYPR-RX technology or individually for each game via Adrenalin software profiles.

KitGuru says: Do you think Nvidia and Intel will launch a Fluid Motion Frames equivalent? Technically, Nvidia already has it, but it's integrated within DLSS 3. Depending on how it was developed, it should be possible to launch it as a separate technology.
