Zotac RTX 4070 Super Trinity Black Edition Review

As I mentioned at the start of this review, it has been some time since I last assessed a product from Zotac, but overall the RTX 4070 Super Trinity Black Edition is a solid graphics card.

For me this starts with the design, with Zotac opting for a curvaceous, smooth aesthetic instead of any aggressive angles and edges that we are used to seeing in the gaming space. It is obviously personal preference, but I really like this approach, and it is well complemented by the Spectra RGB lighting that is also on offer.

Zotac has built a solid cooler, too. It may not be the outright best we have tested, but it is certainly competitive, beating the likes of the Nvidia Founders Edition and Inno3D Twin X2 when noise normalised, and only running a few degrees warmer than the likes of the Gigabyte Aero OC.

Out of the box noise levels are very impressive though, as we saw the card peak at just 34dBa noise output, with the three fans running at barely 1200rpm. The Aero OC when using the Silent BIOS did prove to be a hair quieter, but the differences are very small indeed.

Speaking of BIOS, however, that is my main criticism of the Zotac Trinity Black Edition – it lacks dual-BIOS, a feature I think is sorely missing when we consider the £620 asking price. Some may also be disappointed by the lack of factory overclock, especially at the price, as we saw the Trinity run the slowest of the five 4070 Supers we have tested to-date, though the margins are very slim indeed.

Overall, the RTX 4070 Super Trinity Black Edition is a decent choice if you are looking for a new 40-series GPU. I do think dual-BIOS would elevate its appeal, as the card does look a touch on the pricey side without that feature, but otherwise it doesn't do much wrong.

You can buy the Trinity Black Edition for £619.99 from Overclockers UK HERE.

Pros

  • Attractive, curved shroud.
  • Solid thermal performance.
  • Very quiet.
  • Support for the full RTX feature set including DLSS, ray tracing etc.

Cons

  • Lacks dual-BIOS.
  • No factory overclock.
  • Could do with being £20 cheaper considering the above points.

KitGuru says: You could do a lot worse than the Trinity Black Edition, though a small price adjustment would certainly help its competitiveness.
