For our temperature testing, we measure the peak GPU core temperature under load, as well as the GPU temperature with the card idling on the desktop. A reading under load comes from running the 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra stress test 20 times. An idle reading comes after leaving the system on the Windows desktop for 30 minutes.
Nvidia's current generation Founders Edition cards have impressed me greatly with how well they cool their respective GPUs, and things are no different for this 2070 SUPER. The core peaked at just 73C under load, making it 1C cooler than the RTX 2080 Founders Edition – that makes sense, considering it's the same cooler for both GPUs, only the 2070 SUPER has fewer cores.
Things are looking good with our thermal imaging camera, too. We saw hot spots between 64-65C on the side and back of the card which is nothing at all to worry about. This is a high quality reference cooler.
