Computex: ASUS unveils strong ROG lineup of monitors, laptops and more

ASUS made a few big announcements at Computex yesterday, though the lack of ROG news did leave enthusiasts wanting more. Fortunately, today, ASUS ROG had its own conference, lifting the lid on some excellent new gear, ranging from an all new ultra-wide HDR monitor, to new Nvidia Max-Q laptops and even some Intel X299 motherboards.

There is plenty of hardware to dig into here so let's start off with the ASUS Zephyrus, the world's slimmest gaming laptop featuring an Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake CPU and a GTX 1080 GPU. This is one of the first laptops to part of Nvidia's new Max-Q initiative, so it is also just 18.9mm thick, making it comparable to the size of a MacBook Air but with significantly more power under the hood.

With so many gamers making the jump to ultra-wide and higher refresh rate monitors, ASUS's announcement of the ROG Swift PG35VQ should excite many. This is a 3440×1440 35-inch monitor with support for HDR and G-Sync but the major upgrade here in my opinion is the 200Hz refresh rate, double that of the current ultra-wide ROG Swift monitor. Asus also showed off the PG27UQ, which we first saw at CES earlier this year, offering up 4K resolution with ultra high refresh rates.

Finally, ASUS also unveiled a slew of new motherboards, ranging from the flagship Rampage VI Extreme, to the Rampage VI Apex, both of which are based on Intel's new X299 chipset for its upcoming Core X-series CPUs. The Rampage Apex has a focus on achieving record-breaking overclocks while using sub-zero cooling. There is also the new X299-E motherboard on the way, which you can see in the images above.

All of Asus's new ROG products come with support for Aura Sync, which is the company's own RGB lighting system. So if you own an Asus monitor, motherboard, GPU, mouse, keyboard and headset, you can sync them all up to be the same colour.
