In recent months we've heard rumours that Intel will be rebranding its Core i3/i5/i7/i9 series processors with its next-generation chips. Today, Intel is confirming exactly that, with plans to introduce Intel Core Ultra processors this year.

Intel Core Ultra will be the new badge assigned to Intel's ‘most advanced client offerings', so expect to see the new naming scheme in place for the next wave of K-series Intel desktop processors. Intel's other mainstream client processors will also get updated Intel Core branding.

Moving forward, there will be no ‘i' in the processor names, simplifying the numbering to Intel 3/5/7/9 depending on the product. Additionally, Intel is updating its Evo branding, so new Evo-certified laptops will be known as ‘Evo Edition' laptops.

Finally, Intel is also introducing new vPro Enterprise and vPro Essential labels for commercial systems.

We'll start to see these changes coming into effect throughout the rest of 2023, starting with the upcoming Meteor Lake Intel Core Ultra processors.
