Leo Says Ep.65 – AMD Zen 4 is go, go, go

Luke gave us the low-down on AMD Zen 4 during his recent visit to Austin, Texas and you can read all about it HERE. The fact of the matter is that AMD has been talking about Zen 4 for quite some while, so we now have the final pieces of the puzzle in place and are eagerly awaiting the launch date of 27th September.

Ryzen 7000 CPUs will use a new LGA socket called AM5. With the current socket AM4 there are a number of surface-mounted components in the centre of the CPU socket on the motherboard. With Zen 4 and AM5 these components have been moved to the top of the CPU with the result that we have a CPU that looks new, interesting and unusual.

In the video we discuss some 20 of AMD's slides however the six shown above are the TLDR. AMD tells us that Zen 4 eclipses Zen 3, uses a new socket with DDR5 memory and will deliver very high clock speeds at prices that don't look too scary.
