Overclockers set new world records with Intel Core i9-14900KS

Asus ROG recently announced that a team of expert overclockers from around the world had broken four world records using the ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore motherboard, equipped with the latest Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU.

Recently, four new world records have been set following the launch of the Intel Core i9-14900KS, Intel's latest flagship consumer desktop processor with 24 cores. With an out-of-the-box boost clock speed of 6.2 GHz, it's no surprise that overclockers would try to break new ground with it.

One of the world records broken was the clock speed one, surpassing the 9044 MHz set by Elmor using the Core i9-14900KF motherboard. The new world record is 9117.8 MHz, achieved using the ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore motherboard. As per the video, this feat was achieved by cooling the CPU with liquid helium, pushing the voltage to 1.85V. The video below shows that during the test, the CPU reached a temperature of -231°C.

Safedisk also used the same configuration to achieve three additional world records: PiFast in only 6.79 seconds, SuperPI 1M in 3.768 seconds, and PYPrime 32B in 97.596 seconds. Since then, Splave has also shared his results on PiFast and SuperPi 1M, beating Safedisk's results on PiFast with 6.77 seconds and SuperPI 1M with 3.662 seconds.

KitGuru says: We're probably a few months away from the release of new desktop consumer CPUs, so we shouldn't see any significant improvements in these results. Regardless, these are mighty impressive.
