MSI-exclusive Enhanced Mode Boost can increase AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D performance by up to 12%

AMD recently launched the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU as part of the Ryzen 7000 series, compatible with all MSI X670, B650, and A620 motherboards. Simultaneously, MSI introduced a set of new BIOS features to boost the chip's performance, including Enhanced Mode Boost, High-Efficiency Mode, and Memory Context Restore.

The Extended Mode Boost is a PBO group of presets designed to improve the performance of the Ryzen 7000X3D series CPUs, not only the new Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Users may increase the performance of their CPUs by choosing one of the three profiles available, benefiting not only game performance but also productivity.

As you might know, the Ryzen 7000X3D series processors don't offer core clock change. However, thanks to Enhanced Mode Boost and High-Efficiency Mode, you can still improve game performance by up to 12%. Productivity benchmarks were not done, but AIDA64 test results can give us a glimpse of the advantages for creative and production workloads. Overall, performance on the AIDA64 benchmarks improved by 25% on average.

Another unique feature is the High-Efficiency Mode, which optimises memory timing presets by reducing latency and increasing bandwidth. Users may fine-tune the optimal performance for various memory modules using the Tightest, Tighter, Balancing, and Relax settings. Lastly, the new Memory Context Restore feature can lower the AM5 platform's startup time by 50%, according to the test results.

All MSI 600 series motherboards with AGESA COMBO PI 1.0.0.6 BIOS support these functions. So if you already have one and plan to get a Ryzen 7000X3D (or already have one), update your motherboard to the latest BIOS version.

KitGuru says: Like MSI, other motherboard manufacturers will also likely offer similar features on their motherboards for the new X3D processors.
