Leak details Intel Xeon W-2500 HEDT CPU specs

A new leak claims to show Intel's full line-up of upcoming W-2500 HEDT CPUs, otherwise known as the Sapphire Rapids Refresh. It looks like we'll be seeing seven new processors to start with, each with core count and cache upgrades over their predecessors.

As per the table shared by @yuuki_ans, the upcoming “Sapphire Rapids Refresh” series will be led by the Xeon W7-2595X CPU, boasting 26 cores and a boost clock of up to 4.8GHz. Compared to the previous series' flagship, there's a 2-core increase, and the L3 cache has been increased to 48.75MB. The base clock has also been boosted from 2.5 to 2.8GHz, while the highest clock remains the same as that of the W7-2495X. Notably, the TDP has been increased from 225W to 250W.

An analysis of the table provided by the leaker reveals that the new series features a straightforward trend of a higher number of cores (2 cores) and higher base clocks. Some components have also received higher boost clocks. Interestingly, all processors have a higher TDP, with an increase ranging from 10W to 25W. The CPUs are compatible with the LGA-4677 socket and can be used with motherboards that are currently in use and based on W790.

While the W3xxx series is designed for high-end workstations and content creation, the W2xxx series is primarily aimed at hobbyists and overclocking enthusiasts. However, it's unclear if Intel plans to replace its 26C+ core series, as the W3500 series is not mentioned in the leak.

KitGuru says: Contrary to the Raptor Lake Refresh, which only got higher clock speeds and an increased core count in select models, this refresh looks more significant. Besides the higher base and boost clock speeds, all new chips also get more cores and cache.
