Intel Panther Lake listed in Coreboot files with up to 16 CPU cores and 12 Xe3 GPU cores

New Coreboot files have shown new details about Intel's upcoming Panther Lake platform. Besides corroborating many of the rumours and reports we've heard about the new chips, it also includes a new Panther Lake-H variant without integrated graphics.

Panther Lake is set to target the laptop market and is expected to debut in 2025, bringing a number of upgrades over Lunar Lake, which is set to launch later this year.

According to @miktdt, Panther Lake may come in four configurations. Besides the previously reported Panther Lake-U (4P+0E+4LP+4 Xe3 at 15-54W), Panther Lake-P (4P+8E+4LP+12 Xe3 at 25-64W), and Panther Lake-H (4P+8E+4LP+4 Xe3 at 25-80W), there might be an additional Panther Lake-H without integrated graphics (4P+8E+4LP+0 Xe3 at 45-?W).

The power limit listings reveal that the processor's base power (PBP or PL1) ranges between 15 and 25 watts, with maximum turbo power (PL2) peaking at 54 or 80 watts. Moreover, the burst peak power (PL4) could reach 240W, exceeding the limitations observed in previous generations such as Alder, Raptor, and Meteor Lakes. Interestingly, the chipset power limit file doesn't refer to the 45W model, meaning it could use power characteristics specific to this variant.

Intel had already announced the successful booting of Panther Lake into an OS. Production of these CPUs is slated to begin in 2025, with a release not coming sooner than later that year.

KitGuru says: Seeing the variants listed on Coreboot files for Panther Lake, one would assume that the upcoming CPUs would be more of a successor to Arrow Lake than Lunar Lake. However, there's also the chance that it could replace both.
