AMD's Ryzen 9000 series processor family is set to grow even larger, with a new 6-core CPU coming alongside the other two X3D models reportedly launching in late January.
Reputable leaker @AnhPhuH, who previously revealed AMD's plans for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D, has now hinted at the arrival of a new 6-core Ryzen 5 9600. This non-X variant is expected to offer a more budget-friendly option compared to the existing Ryzen 5 9600X but with slightly lower clock speeds.
While specific details about the Ryzen 5 9600 remain scarce, it's unlikely that cache sizes will differ from the 9600X unless AMD decides to use a different chip/architecture, such as Strix Point. However, AMD has previously employed non-standard silicon in its non-X Ryzen SKUs, so it's not entirely out of the question.
The Ryzen 5 9600 is expected to launch alongside the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D in late January. These new additions will further expand AMD's Ryzen 9000 series lineup, offering more options for gamers and enthusiasts across various price points. Interestingly, there has been no mention of a potential Ryzen 5 9600X3D, suggesting AMD might be focusing on the higher-end Ryzen 9 X3D series, at least for now.
The Ryzen 5 9600 is expected to be priced lower than the Ryzen 5 9600X, which is currently available for around £225. As such, the new 6-core Ryzen CPU should launch at around £200.
KitGuru says: Although it's not an X3D CPU, the Ryzen 5 9600 could be a good alternative for entry-level and mid-range systems. It's expected to offer a similar performance to the Ryzen 5 9600X at a slightly lower price.
