AMD is reportedly launching Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D CPUs

It looks like the AMD AM4 platform hasn't been forgotten yet. As per the latest rumours, AMD plans to launch two new Ryzen 5000X3D CPUs for budget-conscious gamers, making the mid-range and entry-level market segments more attractive for those looking to build a new PC.

According to chi11eddog, AMD is reportedly working on two new Ryzen 5000X3D series CPUs. One is the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, an affordable 8-core variant with a base frequency of 3.0GHz and a peak clock of 4.1GHz, 400 MHz lower than the 5800X3D SKU. The second rumoured CPU is the Ryzen 5 5500X3D, a 6-core model with base and boost frequencies of 3.0 and 4.0GHz, respectively. These clock rates are believed to be 300/400 MHz slower than the 5600X3D. Both of these CPUs are said to feature 96MB of 3D V-Cache.

It's unclear when these new CPUs will be available. Still, AMD already has two 5000 series CPUs featuring 3D V-Cache: the 5800X3D, which is considered one of the best gaming CPUs for the AM4 platform, and the 5600X3D, which had a limited launch this year. If AMD expands the availability of 3D V-Cache options beyond select shops, it would be very welcome for those looking for more CPU options in the mid and low-end segments.

What sets the X3D series apart is its compatibility with various entry-level motherboards. Since these CPUs don't allow overclocking, their system requirements are lower. Despite this limitation, X3D CPUs outperform their non-X3D counterparts in gaming benchmarks, whether overclocked or not.

KitGuru says: How do you think these two new Ryzen 5000X3D processors will compare with the rest of the lineup? Assuming the specs are accurate, would you prefer the extra cores of the new Ryzen 7 chip over the higher clock speeds of the Ryzen 5 5600X3D?
