The Dark Rock Slim is finally here and be quiet! is already giving one away

Back at CES, we had the chance to catch up with be quiet! to get a sneak preview at some of the new hardware heading our way this year. During our visit, we came across the new Dark Rock Slim, which cuts down the heatsink considerably compared to the Dark Rock 4 and Dark Rock 4 Pro. Now, this compact cooler is finally ready to launch.

The Dark Rock Slim is part of the Dark Rock 4 family of CPU coolers, with support for all current Intel and mainstream AMD sockets. You can tell straight away that it is part of the Dark Rock lineup, thanks to be quiet!'s signature black design. In terms of cooling capabilities, the Dark Rock Slim is rated for CPUs up to 180W, all while cutting down on heatsink space and providing more clearance for RAM modules.

The Dark Rock Slim's cooling fins and hear pipes use an enhanced ceramic coating to improve conduction. There are four heat pipes that make contact with the CPU and swiftly transfer heat away to be dissipated. The heat sink is designed in a wave shape to contribute to better air flow.

The fan on this unit is a Silent Wings 3 120mm PWM, which uses a fluid-dynamic bearing and blades optimised for airflow. As you would expect from be quiet!, this is also a near silent fan, with a rated maximum noise level of 23.6dB.

The Dark Rock Slim will begin shipping on the 14th of May with an MSRP of £54.99/$59.90/€57.90. To celebrate the launch, be quiet! is giving one away, so if you are interested, you can find details on that HERE.

KitGuru Says: We'll hopefully have a review ready for the Dark Rock Slim in the near future, so stay tuned for more. Are any of you currently shopping around for a new air cooler?
