LGA1700-compatible CPU coolers will work with Intel Arrow Lake CPUs

Intel Arrow Lake is set to be the next major desktop platform from Intel and a new socket is expected to come along with it. Fortunately for those with current-gen compatible coolers, it looks like there will be the option to bring your CPU cooler forward to the next generation.

Reddit user bizude (via Tom's Hardware) shared the documentation of their newly acquired Azza Cube 360, which shows that the mounting mechanism for Intel processors is the same for LGA115x, LGA1200, LGA1366, LGA1700, and LGA1851 sockets. The upcoming Arrow Lake CPUs will use the latter.

Noctua has already confirmed Arrow Lake compatibility with their retail CPU coolers without specifying any additional mounting kits. Moreover, the Azza Cube 360 user documentation shows native compatibility with Arrow Lake without any extra peripherals.

Although the new LGA1851 socket will have more contact points than the LGA1700, the mounting space and socket size will remain the same, according to leaked schematics. As such, it's not surprising to see that at least some LGA1700-compatible CPU coolers can be reused on LGA1851 sockets.

KitGuru says: If you have a reliable Intel CPU cooler, you can continue using it for the next three years, assuming you want to keep your cooler while upgrading other parts of your PC.
