In our noise level tests we switched off all the case fans and replaced the AMD Radeon HD 7950 graphics card with a HD 5550 passive model so were just taking into account the noise generated by the cooler fans themselves.
We measured the noise level with a Digital Noise Level meter at a distance of 1 m from the front of the case.
In the noise level tests, the results are the opposite of the temperature tests, showing how the Corsair H90 and H110 cannot match the high-end air coolers for acoustic performance.
Solution?
We would recommend that those concerned either make use of the PWM fan control on their motherboard or replace the fans with higher quality, low-noise models.
excellent. getting the H110 next month for my new rig
THey are expensive, shame they hadn’t bundled better fans, their fans were always great, like Lian Li.
I’m currently looking at picking up a H110 for my next build but im tied between Akasa Apache or Viper 140mm’s anyone got any suggestions?
How do you/they solve the Galvanic Cell problem that occurs with all copper – Aluminum cooling solutions? Are they still on the “special coolant” wagon?
Why do you say that the H110 has 20mm fan spacing? All of the images appear to show the two 140mm fans touching with zero spacing, which is compatible with just about any case that supports dual 140’s.
