Antec SOLO II Chassis Review

The Antec SOLO II is an attractively designed case which will suit a wide audience of enthusiast user who hate glowing lights, pulsating logos and ‘eye catching' gimmicks. It is a very stylish, well crafted chassis design that has been built to last and will look great in a living room environment.

The shiny finish is very appealing but our main concern is that it attracts dirt and fingerprints extremely easily. It may look stunning when it has been polished, but within the space of a few hours it begins to look dusty. If you touch the case at all then the marks will remain very visible until cleaned carefully with a polishing cloth.

In regards to features, the Antec SOLO II might not be the best equipped case on the market, but it is very well designed internally, making system changes a breeze. It has important features that really make a difference, such as a hinged front bezel, dust guards on the front two fans and USB 3.0 support. The cooling is decent and will always remain fairly quiet … although the case would benefit from a top mounted fan.

The SOLO II looks expensive and the build quality is exceptional. It retails for around £89.98 from dabs.com which means it offers solid value for money.

Pros

  • Great build quality.
  • looks fantastic.
  • USB 3.0 support.
  • Decent cooling.
  • great internal design.
  • external appearance will appeal to people with taste.

Cons

  • Gets dirty easily due to finish.
  • Top mounted PSU.

Kitguru says: An excellent case for under £100. One of the best in this sector.

  1. I still have the first version, it was a solid case, but it had some flaws. this one seems better

  2. I bought a case with a piano finish and I honestly will never go back, it looks great at the start, but you spend a lot of time keeping it clean and free from marks and dust. If you have a young kid in the house, never even contemplate one of these.

  3. An innocuous looking review whith a hidden secret: It’s a clever idea to move the stock fan in front and to use the CPU cooler fan to push air directly outside the case instead of against a rear fan.

    Thanks!.
