The Streacom DA6 case takes the open-frame concept to a new level

Streacom is known for its unique case designs. That trend continues with the new DA6 series, based on the company's DB4 cases. The new series consists of two open-frame SFF chassis with a vertical orientation – the standard DA6 and the slightly taller DA6XL.

The two cases are very similar in shape and features. Both have a structure made of 19mm stainless steel tubes (chrome and black) that bend on the chassis corners to create the handles and feet. Following the same design, the universal brackets (eight included) and motherboard posts placed in the middle of the case are also made of tubes.

As the name implies, the DA6XL is the bigger of the two, as it's 35mm taller than the standard DA6. That results in an increase in body volume from 15.9L to 17.6L. The extra height also allows users to mount longer GPUs, up to 358mm long (323mm for the DA6). In addition, CPU coolers can be as high as realistically possible, as the open-frame design doesn't limit how tall the heatsink may be. However, it can't exceed 105mm in height if you want to keep it within the chassis dimensions.

Using the universal brackets, owners will be able to mount multiple 140mm fans (theoretically up to 8) and 140mm/280mm radiators (up to 4), which should be enough for some creative custom loops. Streacom recommends users mount the GPU vertically, but a riser cable isn't included. Additionally, the DA6 chassis support ATX PSUs, but that always depends on how you arrange the remaining components.

The universal brackets are also used to mount 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives. With the right configuration, Streacom claims you should be able to mount up to 9 drives, but just like PSU compatibility, it heavily depends on the other components. As for the front I/O panel, it's completely customisable, as it allows you to use a selection of five modules (and a separate biometric module for Windows Hello) in any of the three positions available within the chassis (two in the top and one in the bottom).

The Streacom DA6 is priced at €139/$150, while the DA6XL goes for €149/$160. Both cases will become available in late July 2022.
