Streacom FC5 EVO Fanless HTPC Case Review

Overall we are very impressed with what the Streacom FC5 EVO Fanless HTPC case brings to the enthusiast audience.  Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this case is the fantastic build quality.

The aluminium construction is extremely solid and is on a much higher level than the vast majority of cases on the market, even those from the likes of Lian Li.

When it comes to aesthetics, the FC5 EVO also appeals.  The minimalist design and flat form factor mean that this case won't look out of place underneath your TV, making it ideal for an HTPC.

We couldn't say that the FC5 EVO is the easiest case to install a system into, however considering the complex fanless CPU cooling system we will forgive it this slight inconvenience.  It is a little fiddly, but doesn't take too long to attach.

At a price of £215 from Overclockers UK, the Streacom FC5 EVO Fanless HTPC case is pretty expensive for what you get, however it is a very niche product which is sure to appeal to those looking to build a high end HTPC which is completely silent and very stylish.

Also remember that you'll need to purchase a Streacom Nano 150 power supply to go with the case, which will set you back an additional £78 from Overclockers UK, resulting in a total expenditure of £293.

Pros

  • Beautiful design.
  • Completely silent.
  • Unrivalled build quality.
  • Ideal form factor.

Cons

  • Expensive.

KitGuru says: An excellent case, only let down by a high price tag.
