Blackberry announce Alicia Keys as creative director

The launch of Blackberry 10 has been met with mixed, but mostly positive press. Unless you need to use the camera in low light, without flash that is.

The most interesting news for me however was the appointment of singer/songwriter Alicia Keys as Blackberry's global creative director. Not the first time a move like this has happened to drive interest for a product or company.

Intel appointed will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas as ‘director of creative innovation'. Polaroid in 2010 that they were appointing Lady Gaga as their creative director.

Alicia Keys is married to Swizz Beatz, and he was appointed creative director of Lotus Cars in 2011.

We can expect to see Alicia in many upcoming ads for BlackBerry in the coming months. The promotional possibilities are endless.
