Sometimes we like the bizarre side of technology and nothing I have read this month has been more bizarre than Honda deciding to turn a lawnmower into a high performance vehicle capable of speeds up to 130mph.

Their new HF260 Lawn Tractor is capable of hitting 60mph from a dead start in around 4 seconds. Idle for cutting grass on those larger than average gardens around your mansion we think!

The company have lifted a 1000cc engine from their Honda VTR Firestorm motorbike and have equipped the mower with all terrain rubbers.

The lawnmower is called the world's fastest mower, pumping out 96 Nm of torque and producing 109 horse power. It has a power to weight ratio of 532 bhp/tonne and weights only 140kg. The chassis has been designed with Team Dynamics to be lightweight and strong.

It can cut grass up to 15mph, and afterwards you can take it on the roads for some high speed maneuvers. The cutting system is a custom made design featuring two electric motors driving the 3mm steel cutting cable at 4000 rpm. At the rear there is a ‘grass bag', which is actually a system to conceal the oil cooler, gas tank and second radiator. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH_Qb4fdHfg']

The mower is equipped with a Scorpion exhaust system, sure to generate enough noise to wake up the neighbours. Rated at up to 130dBa, it may not prove very popular with neighbours.
