Ford recall 10,000 Escape SUV’s to change the carpet padding

Ford Motor have issued a recall for 100,000 2013 Escape SUV's. The problem? They need to fix carpet padding that could interfere with braking.

Ford say that the carpet padding is wrongly positioned and it could reduce space around the pedals and cause drivers to hit the side of the brake pedal when switching from the accelerator.

The company told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that dealers will remove the carpet padding and replace with a console trim panel for no charge.

Luckily Ford have not received any reports of accidents or injuries due to this problem, which they discovered via ‘internal evaluations'.

The recall is said to being July 23rd. If you are one of our American readers and you own one of these built between March 8th and June 7th, then call 866-436-7332.

Kitguru says: First time we have ever heard of a ‘carpet recall'.
