Airpulse launches new A80 speakers with ribbon tweeters

Renowned audio engineer Phil Jones and AirPulse are teaming up again in 2021 with a new pair of speakers. The new Airpulse A80 offer a new entry-level price point without sacrificing quality.

The Airpulse A80 speakers come loaded with the company's signature horn-loaded aluminium ribbon tweeter and a proprietary 4.5-inch magnet ferrite mid-woofer to drive the speakers. The thin aluminium ribbon diaphragm has high sensitivity and better transient response compared to cone tweeters – which was something we talked about quite extensively in our Airpulse A100 review.

This ribbon tweeter, combined with the 4.5-inch mid-woofer produces directional and optimised high frequencies aimed at listeners, minimising unwanted room reflection. The A80 also has a built-in amp and a subwoofer output, so you can get strong bass too.

As you would expect, there are multiple connection options, so you can hook these up to a TV setup, use them with your PC, or stream music from your phone straight to them. Inputs include AUX, PC, USB, Optical and Bluetooth.

While these are the entry-level Airpulse speakers, they still wield a hefty price tag. Currently, the Airpulse A80s can be found on Amazon UK in blue or brown colours for £629.

KitGuru Says: The Airpulse A80 speakers seem to offer some of the best qualities of the A100 at a lower price tag. We'll be looking forward to putting them to the test ourselves soon, so stay tuned for a full review.
