Roccat Skeltr, Sova and Swarm at GamesCom 2016

Roccat is expanding its product portfolio and had all the new kit on display at GamesCom 2016. Tom Loske was on hand to show us the Skeltr which allows you to connect a variety of mobile devices to your keyboard using the latest Swarm modular software solution – as well as the Sova gaming lapboard which converts your favourite chair or sofa into a gaming throne.

With a large, 4-sided stand at GamesCom, Roccat was able to set up a number of different experience zones for attendees. Each corner of the stand had a ‘mini turret' from which the Roccat ladies were passing out free energy drinks – and there was a team of ‘heavily armed militia' wandering around looking intimidating. Used in conjunction with the Swarm software, Skeltr seems to offer some intriguing ways to control your PC – in game – and Roccat is actively looking for feedback from users as to what features should be added next.

KitGuru says: We saw a very early lapboard idea at GamesCom in 2012 and loved the concept straight away. Whether you're able to enjoy gaming in this kind of position will be a matter of personal choice, but Tom's advice to ‘Give it a go' is certainly smart.

  1. He sounded really hesitant as he tried to explain the benefits of the mobile phone app….. Almost as though he was mentally trying to remember the details off the logitech keyboard box (logitech Arx) they blatantly ripped off.
Ive been Roccat and Steelseries biggest fan since both companies launched but Roccats quality and support is starting to suffer as they grow more and more gimmicky. I have a £180 keyboard with about 15 dead backlights and they weren’t interested then they managed to brick my Tyon mouse with a compulsory auto starting firmware update. Support sent me this helpful message: Reply from Roccat tech support, This issue is caused by a bug in the latest Tyon driver version. If you are not using a motherboard with the X99 Chipset please download and install the previous driver version. Yup officially they only support X99 motherboards lol.
Anyone recommend a mouse for a man with hands like wheelbarrows.
