Twitter set to break 200 million users by end of year

Love them or loate them, it is hard to escape social networking in the news today. Latest information reaching KitGuru details that Twitter now have over 175 million users, a growth of 30 million people since August, or 15 million users a month.

Not many networks could claim a growth of half a million users every day and when we look back at recent reports earlier this year, we can see that Twitter growth was only 300,000 people a day (I say only!).

These growth rates are incredible and after making a few calculations it seems possible that Twitter could breach the 300 million user mark by the end of the year.

Twitter co founder Biz Stone said that 75 percent of all Twitters traffic comes from outside the site, third party applications that tap into Twitter's service in various ways, such as applications on the iPhone and other devices.
