As we have known now for some time, Apple are planning to release a new high definition television. Well known Apple based Cult Of Mac have mocked up what they expect Apple to release.
In their report, Cult Of Mac say that they have been in contact with an unnamed source who has already seen the prototype of the upcoming device. The source claims that it looks like “Apple's current lineup of LED-backlit Cinema Displays but is ‘much bigger.' It [also] has a built-in iSight camera for making free FaceTime video conference calls. And it has Siri, the iPhone 4S' voice-activated virtual assistant.”
The new television is being prepared for release across the globe, targeting the US audience first. Other reports claim however that the final design is still some time away, with a release scheduled for 2014.
The Cult Of Mac source says that he/she has seen the exact prototype that Steve Jobs was talking about in the Walter Isaacson book. The new television is said to use a version of the SIRI assistant, so the user could give wireless voice control. The images above also show a camera, which is apparently used for iSight, so the user can use Facetime video for chatting over a Wifi connection.
The camera, according to the source is ‘sophisticated, with facial recognition and the ability to zoom into the user's face and follow them as they walk around the room. This allows users to make video calls from the couch across the room, rather than having to stand smack in front of the TV'.
The source hasn't been confirmed, however Cult Of Mac say that “(the source) is well-placed and has provided us with great tips in the past. However, not all of them have panned out, ostensibly due to the fact that our source tends to see products in the prototype or early development stage and Apple doesn't always ultimately choose to release them.”
