Nikon introduce smartphone control with D3200 DSLR

The fight between market leaders Canon and Nikon continues to heat up. Nikon have released their D3200 DSLR camera with a 24.2 megapixel DX format CMOS sensor. The camera is said to have great low light performance and offers full high definition video recording.

The new Expeed 3 image processor from Nikon allows for 4 fps shooting and they offer a new WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter which turns a smartphone or tablet into a remote control, with image previews and remote shutter release.

The camera offers an ISO range between 100 and 6400 with an extended 12,800 mode for low light conditions. It has 11 point autofocus support. The camera has six scene modes, including Landscape, Portrait, Sports, Child, Night Portrait and Close Up.

1080p video can be recorded with full focus and a choice of automatic or manual exposure control. It has an HDMI port with stereo microphone input. Display is covered with a 3 inch, 921k dot LCD.

It looks to be a solid step up from the previous D3100. The only concern we have is that the 24.2 MP sensor may contain a little more noise in the images.

Price is said to be $699.95, so we would expect the price to hit UK around £600 inc vat, although we could be slightly out. Nikon will offer the camera in traditional black and a more eye catching red.
