Amazon orders two seasons of God of War show according to writer

Back in late 2022, Amazon announced that they had greenlit a Prime Video TV show based on Sony’s God of War series. In the two years since, production has struggled – with the most recent reports claiming that the show was starting from scratch. Fortunately, it seems Amazon has faith in the project, as they have reportedly ordered two seasons already.

In an interview during The Sackhoff Show, Ronald D. Moore (of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica fame) revealed that he is currently working on the script for Amazon’s God of War adaptation, saying:

“Right now I'm working on the adaptation of this video game called God of War, it's a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they asked me to come in, I'm literally in the writer's room and that's my new thing.”

As mentioned, last we heard, the God of War show was starting production from scratch due to them wanting to take it in a “different creative direction”. While it is unlikely that we will see anything from the show, it is encouraging to hear not only that progress is once again being made, but that Amazon is giving them two seasons to work with.

It will be interesting to see what direction they take, and whether the seasons will connect.
