AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 tested on Geekbench

It looks like the Asus ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet is getting a serious upgrade with AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU. Recently spotted Geekbench entries confirm that the Asus gaming tablet is getting AMD's upcoming flagship APU while also giving us a first look at its CPU and GPU performance.

Previously spotted in a leaked benchmark, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 boasts 16x Zen 5 cores and Radeon 8060S graphics with 40x CUs based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture. As for the ROG Flow Z13, it's a 13-inch 2-in-1 gaming device, making it pretty much the perfect candidate for this APU. The leaked benchmark doesn't include the “Pro” suffix seen in previous Strix Halo leaks, suggesting that AMD will offer both workstation and gaming-focused variants.

In Geekbench 6.3 CPU tests (via Benchleaks), the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 achieved impressive scores of 2,849 in single-core and 20,708 in multi-core performance. This surpasses even AMD's current flagship mobile CPU, the Ryzen 9 7945HX, and its 3D V-Cache-equipped counterpart, the 7945HX3D, by about 3% in single-core and 26% in multi-core. Moreover, the Radeon RX 8060S (also via Benchleaks) has also been tested. It scored 76,961 points in the OpenCL graphics test, the same as an RTX 2070 Super Max-Q or a Radeon RX 6650M XT.

AMD is expected to unveil the Ryzen AI Max+ series at CES 2025. With its impressive performance and integrated graphics capabilities, the Strix Halo APU is poised to shake up the mobile gaming landscape.
