While we typically only see one or two ‘major' game announcements at The Game Awards each year, Geoff Keighley was able to outdo himself this year. Not only did we get reveals for games like The Witcher 4 and Borderlands 4, but we also got entirely unexpected announcements, including the reveal of Naughty Dog's next game.
Naughty Dog has been working away on a new IP for years now. Previous rumours indicated that it would be a Sci-Fi project, a rumour that we now know to be true, as the new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, was announced last night.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a new game from Naughty Dog and will be a pillar title for the PS5 console. The game is set thousands of years in the future, putting players in the role of Jordan, a bounty hunter stranded on a distant planet. Your goal? To be the first person in 600 years to escape this planet's orbit.
The trailer does appear to feature in-game footage, but it is entirely story-focused, so while the graphics will look similar, we still know very little about gameplay. Hopefully that changes in 2025.
KitGuru Says: Naughty Dog has gone from strength to strength over the past decade with Uncharted and The Last of Us. Hopefully this new Sci-Fi game can hit the same quality bar.
