Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a surprise update, ‘new features’ teased

While CD Projekt Red has slowly moved its developers away from Cyberpunk 2077 and onto other projects, it appears the company still has one last surprise in store. To celebrate the game's 4th anniversary, Patch 2.2 will be dropping soon.

CD Projekt Red announced a surprise episode of REDstreams, which will dive into the “new features” coming to Cyberpunk 2077 in Patch 2.2. The company's global community director, Marcin Momot, added that the team “still has some gas in the tank”.

Unfortunately, we don't know any specifics about what will be coming in this new update. However, with the teaser mentioning new features, it could be more in-depth than we would anticipate considering development ‘officially ended' a few months back.

The livestream unveiling the update takes place tomorrow, December 10th, so we'll have more news on this very soon.

In CD Projekt Red's latest financial earnings report, we learned that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 30 million copies to date. The game has had a remarkable turnaround since its rough launch in December 2020. The expansion, Phantom Liberty, has sold eight million copies so far. Project Orion is now in development, which is the codename for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. However, the company's main priority right now is wrapping up work on Project Polaris, which is the codename for the next Witcher game.

KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see what is coming to Cyberpunk 2077 now. Personally, I would like to see a more comprehensive modding tool, similar to the one that released earlier this year for The Witcher 3.
