Despite Microsoft kicking off this generation with an emphasis on offering 60fps as a standard, the console maker has failed to live up to this promise in some regards. That said, despite previous comments stating that the upcoming FPS RPG Avowed would run at 30fps on Xbox Series X, it seems the game’s framerate might not be set in stone just yet.
As part of a recent Avowed preview event, the game’s director ‘Carrie Patel’ sat down with Parris to speak on the upcoming Xbox console exclusive.
During the interview, in discussing the game’s target frame rate, Patel took to clarifying that on Xbox Series X in particular, 30fps “is not our target, we will hit that at the very least. We are fully into performance optimization, we want to fully deliver a beautiful world at the best frame rate we possibly can, we're working on that right now.”
Of course, that’s not to say that the game won’t end up staying at just 30fps when it launches in February next year, but there does remain some hope – for Series X owners at least.
That said, given the number of Xbox games to get a 60fps patch later in life, it's possible that Avowed may launch at 30fps; with an update to boost framerates later. We will have to wait and see.
KitGuru says: What do you think of Xbox’s 30fps situation? Is it simply a matter of needing more time to optimise? Do you think Avowed will launch at 60fps? Let us know down below.
