This week all the major games publishers have been sharing their quarterly earnings reports, which has led to plenty of news headlines. As part of Take-Two's earnings call, we learned quite a bit, including an update on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6 was confirmed by Rockstar earlier this year with a trailer, confirming a 2025 launch window. The game is expected to be the most highly anticipated game of the current console generation, and many other studios will be moving their release dates around to avoid launching closely to the game due to its expected impact.
According to Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track for ‘Fall 2025', which will put the game's release anywhere between September and November. Unfortunately, the game is only confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at this time. A PC launch window is still to be confirmed.
This is the expected timeline for a major AAA game, as it capitalises on the holiday season, where historically, games and consoles sell at their best. For comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5 has surpassed 200 million copies sold and also accelerated console hardware sales. Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to generate billions of dollars post-launch.
