Dragon Age: The Veilguard breaks EA Steam player records

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long time coming, with the Bioware RPG being the first entry in the series to release since 2014’s DA: Inquisition. It seems the wait has been worth it, with The Veilguard breaking a bunch of EA player records on Steam.

With Dragon Age: The Veilguard finally launching yesterday, the latest Bioware release has been met with a ton of interest. As recorded by SteamDB, the latest Dragon Age release has not only broken records for the series itself, but for EA as a whole.

With a peak concurrent player count of 70,414, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is officially Bioware’s biggest launch on the platform, surpassing Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s 59,817 peak CCU.

Beyond this, The Veilguard has also managed to break another record: becoming the highest played single-player title published by EA – beating out the previous record holder (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s 67,855 peak players).

While the critic reviews for Dragon Age: The Veilguard were met with some scepticism due to EA selectively releasing review copies, it seems as though the latest entry in the long-running RPG series has been received rather positively from fans. It will be interesting to see whether opinions shift as more players get deeper into the game.
