Epic is revamping Fortnite’s progression

Over the years Epic Games has changed and evolved Fortnite’s progression multiple times – for better and for worse. That said, with the introduction of multiple new game modes in the past year, levelling up has gotten more complicated. Fortunately, Epic is revamping Fortnite’s progression, making it much more synergistic.

Making the announcement on their blog, the team at Epic Games unveiled their new Fortnite Pass progression system, saying:

“Fortnite continues to evolve with new experiences like LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, and thousands of creator-made islands. Soon, Fortnite's pass progression systems will change to reward players regardless of what they like to play. By December 1, all passes in Fortnite will progress simultaneously by earning XP from playing any experience.”

As part of this, the newly named Music and LEGO passes will follow the battle royale mode’s style of offering a free and paid track to progress. Similarly, “rewards may be claimed in non-sequential order on all passes” compared to previously when this was limited only to the Battle Pass.

With Festival Points, Battle Stars and Studs all being removed in favour of a much simpler XP-based progression, it will be interesting to see whether long-time fans will be more willing to branch out of their preferred game mode. The full blog post can be found HERE.
