Ubisoft says it is ‘exploring’ return to Rayman

Earlier this week, leaks began pointing towards another Ubisoft Remake being in the works. It has been claimed that former developers from The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown have been tasked a Rayman Remake. Now, Ubisoft has responded to those leaks.

In response to recent leaks, Ubisoft confirmed that it has indeed put a small team together to explore potential opportunities for the Rayman IP. Ubisoft has been returning to some of its older franchises in the face of slowing sales in recent years. We already know that remakes for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Splinter Cell are on the way. Rumours also point to a remake for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Now, we can also add Rayman to the list.

Some former Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown developers are now working on Rayman, alongside former Mario + Rabbids developers at Ubisoft Milan. While Ubisoft has confirmed this much, as well as the fact that Michel Ancel is returning to consult on the future of Rayman, the company has not officially announced a specific Rayman game. Whatever is next for Rayman could easily be more than five years away.

Ubisoft is also ramping up work on Beyond Good and Evil 2 once again and has appointed a new creative director to oversee the project. A new Ghost Recon game is also said to be in development.
