Lian Li launches first wireless RGB fans

Lian Li has again raised the bar by introducing its cutting-edge Uni Fan SL and Strimer Wireless series alongside the L-Wireless Sync controller. These innovative products mark a significant leap forward in ARGB lighting technology, providing users with the enhanced ability to create an RGB ecosystem with less cabling to make your build cleaner.

At the heart of the Uni Fan SL Wireless lies the 2.4 GHz L-Wireless Sync controller, which, alongside the L-Connect 3 software, offers seamless control over lighting effects and fan speeds. The fans have received an ARGB design update with dual lighting zones on each side. Engineered for performance and silence, these fans utilise fluid dynamic bearings and can reach speeds of up to 2000 RPM for the SL Wireless and 1900 RPM for the SL Wireless LCD. Notably, the SL Wireless LCD model has a 1.6-inch LCD (400×400) capable of showcasing MP4, GIF, JPG, and PNG formats, allowing users to personalise their setup. The Uni Fan SL Wireless system can manage groups of up to four fans, allowing versatile configurations, including combinations of SL Wireless and SL Wireless LCD models. Each grouping requires a clip-integrated receiver powered by a PWM header, with the LCD variant also necessitating an additional USB header connection.

The Strimer Wireless series delivers customisable ARGB extension cables incorporating the same 2.4 GHz wireless control technology. These cables are powered directly from the connector, eliminating the need for cumbersome cabling to and from a controller hub. A single L-Wireless SYNC Controller can oversee multiple Strimer Wireless units alongside various Uni Fan SL Wireless and SL LCD Wireless groups. The updated light guides enhance illumination and eliminate dead zones, ensuring consistent lighting from the cables. The GPU Strimer cables feature a streamlined design with a single solid lighting guide.

They also include a 90º 12V-2×6 GPU connector, providing compatibility with horizontally mounted GPUs in tighter cases. Additional enhancements, such as a colour-coded connection and a built-in push tab, promise to improve durability and ease of use. Other cables include GPU 2x8pin (narrow and wide cabling), CPU 2x8pin, and 24pin (with or without controller).

Lastly, the L-Wireless Sync controller is the USB dongle at the heart of this whole system. It's connected to the motherboard's I/O USB port or internally via a USB 2.0 connector and PWM header and allows users to manage up to ten groups of Lian Li Wireless devices.

The fans can now be pre-ordered in black and white with standard or reverse fans in kits of one or three fans, starting at £23.99/€26.90. Some options include the 2.4 GHz L-Wireless Sync controller, which can be bought separately for £14.99/€17.90. The Strimer Wireless GPU cables can be purchased starting at £39.95/€49.90. As for the Strimer Wireless CPU 2x8pin, it will only be available on November 7th.

KitGuru says: Lian Li's idea to create a wireless RGB ecosystem is interesting, but considering the cabling attached to the components (not including the Strimer), we're unsure if we can call it truly “wireless”.
