Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 8 million copies

Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil 4 Remake, released on March 23, 2023, has achieved a new sales milestone, surpassing eight million copies since launch. This survival horror title, available across multiple platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and iOS, has garnered acclaim from both critics and fans, setting a new standard for what players expect from remakes of beloved classics.

Despite this success, the game still trails behind its predecessor, the original Resident Evil 4, which has amassed over 13.3 million sales since its debut. However, the original game did have a near two-decade head start.

Considering how well-received the game was, it's not surprising it sold so many copies. Gaming critics have praised it a lot, with an OpenCritic score of 92 and 98% of the critics recommending it. Gamers also seem very pleased with the game, with 97% of the almost 100,000 reviews on Steam recommending it.

According to Capcom's sales data released in early 2024, the original version of RE4 is the fourth highest selling game in the series, coming in just behind the likes of RE7, RE2 and RE5.

KitGuru says: Capcom set a new standard for remakes in recent years. Are there any other classic games you would like to see re-made with a similar level of care?
