Until Dawn film adaptation gets April 2025 premiere date

Until Dawn was a PlayStation 4 exclusive choice-based narrative title developed by Supermassive Games back in 2015. Almost a decade on from the game’s initial launch, Until Dawn has been revived with a controversial PS5 remake alongside the announcement of a film adaptation. With the movie having now wrapped its filming, an official release date has been announced.

As reported by Deadline, Sony’s Until Dawn movie is set to come to cinemas on the 25th of April 2025 – 9 years and 8 months following the PS4 game’s initial release.

Notable horror aficionado David F. Sandberg has directed the film, with his previous credits including the Shazam duology – but more importantly the viral short film Lights Out (which he then turned into a full feature in 2016).

Unlike the game itself, which employed the voices and likenesses of actors such as Hayden Panettiere and Rami Malek, the film will comprise of a whole new suite of actors, namely: Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell and Peter Stormare.

Fans of Until Dawn will note that one actor from the game is returning – that being Peter Stormare as Dr. Hill. For those who have played Until Dawn, this decision makes a great deal of sense and lends an extra level of credibility to the film.

Until Dawn was a great blend of throwback campy horror alongside some genuinely tense and scary moments, and so it will be interesting to see how this is all translated to the silver screen.
