Dragon Age: The Veilguard will launch without Denuvo DRM

While we typically see massive new games launching with Denuvo DRM in place in order to protect the game from piracy during the first few months of sale, BioWare is going in a different direction with Dragon Age: The Veilguard. 

The new Dragon Age game will not feature any 3rd party DRM, it has been revealed. That means there will be no Denuvo anti-tamper protection in place, but this lack of DRM does come with a downside. Due to the lack of security tools, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not be available to pre-load on PC.

Typically, a pre-loaded game is heavily encrypted, protecting the game files until the full game unlocks. However, in the past, some have been able to decrypt pre-load files, leading to early datamining efforts and a headstart for pirates looking to play the game for free.

If you are on console, you will be able to download the game early. Pre-loading has already begun for those on Xbox Series X/S consoles, and PS5 owners can start downloading the game from the 29th of October. The game will officially release worldwide on the 31st of October.
