Metro: Awakening gets November launch date for Quest, PSVR2 and Steam VR

The Metro series returns this year with Metro: Awakening, a new game set prior to the events of Metro 2033. This also doubles as the first game in the series to support VR headsets, so gamers can get up close and personal with the threats lurking in the tunnels.

Last night during Sony's State of Play showcase, the release date trailer for Metro: Awakening dropped, revealing a November 7th launch.

While the trailer was revealed during a Sony showcase, Metro: Awakening will not be exclusive to one platform. Instead, it will be released for PS VR2, Meta Quest and on the Steam store for PC VR headsets. With that in mind, you should be able to play the game, whether you own an original Oculus Rift or HTC VIVE, or one of the newer VR headsets.

In many ways, this has the potential to be the biggest VR game since Half-Life: Alyx. We've seen very few single-player VR games hit the same quality bar as Alyx, and with Metro also being such a hugely renowned franchise, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what the team behind the game have cooked up.

The game is set 15 years after the world fell into nuclear fallout, forcing humanity underground. You will play as Serdar, a resident of Akademecheskaya station. One day, your wife, Yana, disappears, forcing you out into the tunnels to search for her.

KitGuru Says: It may finally be time to dust off my Quest 3 once this game lands. Will any of you be picking up Metro: Awakening in November?
