New eight-core Ryzen AI ‘Zen 5’ APU spotted

The release of the AMD Ryzen AI 300 Pro series should be just around the corner, with rumours pointing to October 10th as the release date. Lenovo has already unveiled laptops powered by the upcoming Ryzen Pro CPUs, confirming the arrival of the first SKU in the upcoming lineup. This SKU is the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360, and contrary to what some might have thought, it will feature an 8-core configuration.

The Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360 is expected to feature eight cores and sixteen threads, with a likely configuration of 4x Zen5 and 4x Zen5c cores, as inferred from the Geekbench results (via VideoCardz). Meanwhile, the notable distinction between the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360 and the Krackan chip lies in their integrated graphics. The former is expected to come with a Radeon 880M iGPU with 12x RDNA 3.5 CUs, while the latter might be marketed with a Radeon 860M and 8x RDNA 3.5 CUs.

In terms of performance, the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360 has been seen undergoing tests in the Geekbench AI benchmark, particularly in the OpenVINO CPU framework test, achieving scores of 3111 in single precision, 3244 in half precision, and a 9074 quantized score. In comparison, the single and half precision scores are about 10% higher than an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, and the quantized score is about 20% higher than the same Intel CPU.

We already know of at least one laptop that will feature the upcoming AMD Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360: the Lenovo ThinkPad T14S Gen 6. However, the release date has yet to be officially confirmed by both Lenovo and AMD. Based on the latest rumours, the Ryzen AI 300 Pro series is expected to come out on October 10th.
