Sword and Shield fans will rejoice at new Monster Hunter Wilds trailer

Capcom has been on a spree of reveals for its next generation Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Wilds. The publisher has been uploading gameplay clips focusing on different mechanics and weapons, seemingly in a lead-up to a big announcement at Gamescom. We've already seen some of the heavier weapons in action, like the Bowgun, Hammer, Hunting Horn and Great Sword. Now, we take a look at something a little less daunting to newcomers – a classic sword and shield combo.

In previous trailers we got to see some of the new mechanics in Monster Hunter Wilds, including the new Focus Mode, which allows players to see the weak points on monsters in the heat of battle. Another trailer showcased other basic mechanics, which have not changed much from previous Monster Hunter games, so it should all look very familiar to veterans. We've also had weapon trailers for the Great Sword, Hunting Horn, Hammer and Light Bowgun weapons so far.

Today, Capcom's trailer spree continues with a new weapon trailer, this time focusing on the classic Sword and Shield combo, a must have in any melee-focused combat game.

Poised as the perfect beginner weapon for newcomers to the series, the sword and shield offer a healthy dose of attack and defence, but as the only weapon that also allows users to whip out the slinger without sheathing their weapon, users will also get quicker access to important ranged attacks to debuff monsters for a quicker takedown.

Capcom has been dropping a new weapon or mechanic breakdown trailer every day for the last several days. So far, it appears to all be leading up to Gamescom on the 20th of August.

KitGuru Says: We'll have some release date news for Monster Hunter Wilds very soon if recent marketing efforts are anything to go by. It is my belief that this will end up being a Q1 2025 game with the way things are ramping up.
