Intel Arc Battlemage GPU spotted

We're still waiting for Intel to launch its new Arc B-series graphics cards, using the new Battlemage architecture. However, details on the upcoming GPUs are starting to leak out here and there. The latest leak comes via a Linux boot log of all things.

The boot-up information shared by gaav87 (via Wccftech) reveals that the Battlemage graphics card boasts 12GB of video memory (supposedly GDDR6) running at 19Gbps, a decent increase over the Alchemist series memory speed. However, it seems this GPU will have a 192-bit memory bus, meaning the memory bandwidth will be just 456GB/s. The log also shows that the card has 14 Xe2 cores.

Intel is set to roll out three known Battlemage GPUs: BMG-G31, G10, and G21. Each is expected to feature a different number of Xe2-Cores: 32, 28, and 20, respectively. While the fate of the G10 remains uncertain, the potential introduction of both the G31 and G21 versions opens up various configuration options.

The new Battlemage architecture is projected to significantly improve ray tracing, memory speed, and overall performance, potentially offering a 1.5x improvement compared to the Alchemist series. The first Battlemage desktop GPUs should be released sometime in 2025, but the architecture is expected to be first featured on the Lunar Lake chips, which are expected to launch later this year.

KitGuru says: Considering the specs, we would say this is an entry-level graphics card, as shown on the boot logs. However, there's also the chance that a GPU with these specs will never come out, so we'll have to wait and see.
