Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra to be published by Plaion (Embracer)

Back in 2019, famed video game director Amy Hennig established a new games division within Skydance Media, with the first project announced to be a Captain America / Black Panther led action-adventure title known as Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. Set to arrive some time next year, Skydance have now secured a partnership with Plaion to publish the game.

Making the announcement via a press release, the Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra publisher shared the following: “PLAION has entered into a worldwide publishing partnership with Skydance Games to bring its blockbuster game MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra to players in 2025.”

Speaking on this partnership, Julian Beak – the Co-President at Skydance Games – said “We believe PLAION is the perfect publishing partner for the multiplatform, worldwide release of MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra. For our studio’s debut title, we’re crafting an original Marvel story directed by Amy Hennig. We’re thrilled to have found a global publisher that shares our ambitious vision for the project.”

For the uninitiated, Plaion used to be known as Koch Media and has been a subsidiary of Embracer Group since its acquisition in 2018. Under Plaion, the company operates multiple publishers including Deep Silver; Flying Wild Hog; Warhorse Studios and Prime Matter. It is currently unknown under which publisher exactly the game will be distributed – though it will likely be one of those mentioned above.

Amy Hennig is of course famous for her work as the creative director and writer on the Uncharted Trilogy – though since then has struggled to release a game due to issues within the industry. With Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra now having a confirmed publisher, hopefully the game will be able to get past the finish line.
