LEGO Horizon Adventures will (unsurprisingly) require a PSN account on PC

Sony caught flack recently for forcing all Helldivers II players on PC to create a PlayStation account in order to continue playing the much-loved title. The backlash was swift and Sony eventually conceded. That said, they did reveal that future PC titles would require such an account in order to play. With the Steam page for LEGO Horizon Adventures now live, Sony appears to unfortunately be doubling down on this requirement.

The Steam page for LEGO Horizon Adventures is now live, allowing all those who are interested in the upcoming title to add the game to their wishlist. Unfortunately, as expected, the game is stated to require a PSN account in order to play, saying “PlayStation Network Account required, subject to the PlayStation Terms of Service and User Agreement.”

Beyond the fact that this 3rd-party account requirement is not necessary for the actual functioning of the game, this requirement means that once again, Steam users across over 100 countries will be unable to purchase the title due to Sony’s PSN not being available in those regions.

While an argument could maybe be made for such a requirement in online-only live-service titles, the family-friendly local co-op focused LEGO Horizon Adventures is far from this – making the requirement extra disappointing.
