Avowed leaks its own release date alongside 3rd-person camera confirmation

During Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase, we were given another look at Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment. During the show, the team confirmed that the RPG would still be releasing in 2024. Though not stated during the showcase itself, an official release date has now been announced – though seemingly by accident.

Making the announcement on their blog, Carrie Patel, the Game Director for Avowed said:

“The last few months at Obsidian Entertainment have been fast-paced and exciting. Since we saw you at the Xbox Developer Direct this past January, we've been busy with Avowed getting it ready for release on November 12, 2024. Today, we're thrilled to have revealed our first-ever story trailer at Xbox Games Showcase 2024, and to talk with you more about what we've shared.”

Interestingly, the post has since been edited to remove all mention of the release date, but Wario64 managed to capture and share the screenshot on Twitter, confirming the 12th of November date.

Assuming the release date is true, it begs the question as to why the launch date wasn’t given at the show – unless they are wanting to give the game a second marketing push closer to release. We will have to wait and see, but expect Avowed to arrive sometime in November.

One thing which has been officially officially confirmed however is the fact that Avowed will include a 3rd-person camera option – something which many RPG fans have come to expect.
