Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gets new trailer and Game Pass confirmation

While we were already expecting this year's Call of Duty to come to Game Pass on day-one, Microsoft had yet to officially confirm this. We thought they may save such an announcement for the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, but it turns out they wanted to get the word out a bit earlier, complete with a new trailer for the game.

Today in a surprise update, Xbox dropped the new trailer for Black Ops 6, which many of the recent teasers have been building up to. “The Truth Lies” has been a quote used for the viral marketing campaign in recent weeks. This is also the title for the game's live-action trailer, which can be viewed below:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gameplay will be shown during an hour-long presentation immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th. The game does not currently have an official release date, but recent rumours have suggested it will land in the last week of October.

Alongside this new trailer, Microsoft has also confirmed that Black Ops 6 will indeed be coming to Game Pass for both console and PC on day-one. How this will impact sales of the game still remains to be seen, Microsoft will need Black Ops 6 to bring a significant boost in subscribers to make this strategy viable moving forward, so the success of this strategy will define Microsoft's business moves as it prepares for the next generation Xbox.

KitGuru Says: Do you think Call of Duty launching on Game Pass will hurt sales? I doubt we'll see much of a change on the PlayStation side of sales, but I don't see why many Xbox or PC gamers would fork out the day-one price, rather than stocking up on Game Pass time. However, just because day-one sales on these platforms may end up being lower doesn't mean COD won't make that money back elsewhere. Some may find buying Battle Passes or certain skin packs more palatable if they got the initial game for ‘free'.
