MultiVersus is in a bit of an odd position. The game was initially revealed last year to a large wave of hype, followed by a very successful, six-month long beta test. The game was then taken offline, with plans to ‘relaunch' in 2024. Now, WB is trying to build that hype back up again, with a new launch trailer and teases for future characters.
Super Smash Bros. is a celebration of various Nintendo IP, with some guest characters. In the same vein, MultiVersus is WB's own cross-IP platform fighting game. Players can pick characters from a treasure trove of WB IP, from Batman and Superman, to Scooby Doo, the Iron Giant, Gremlins and other fan favourites.
The new launch trailer for the game gives fans a deeper look at what to expect, including many of the characters players will be able to select in battle. Through teasers, WB has also suggested that the Powerpuff Girls, Jason Vorhees (Friday the 13th) and Agent Smith (The Matrix) will be appearing in the game.
MultiVersus is officially launching on the 28th of May for PlayStation, PC and Xbox, with full cross-play and cross-progression in place. A Nintendo Switch version of the game has not yet been confirmed for release.
