Hogwarts Legacy devs temper expectations for upcoming Summer DLC

It has been over a year since Hogwarts Legacy first launched and with the game swiftly becoming a best-seller, many fans have been hoping for extra DLC or expansions. Fortunately, DLC is in the works, with a free update dropping for the game this summer. However, the developers do want to set expectations accordingly, confirming that this DLC will be a “small way” of showing appreciation to the players.

Earlier this year, the developers behind the game promised “additional updates and features”. It would seem that the main thing being worked on right now is a free DLC due to drop this Summer for all players. As a result, fans have been theorising potential updates for the game, with some ideas floating around being far too ambitious for a free DLC and would more likely be saved for a sequel – if we ever get one that is. After all, WB is now all-in on ditching single-player games to focus on ‘live service'.

To temper expectations for this update, community manager, Chandler Wood, took to Twitter to offer some clarification:

“Hi everyone! We are thrilled that you are all excited for the free update to Hogwarts Legacy this summer. We love seeing all the guesses and hopes for what will be part of this update, and while we are not ready to talk about it yet, I do want to set some expectations for what we are working on. Our original wording of “additional updates and features for the game” was very intentional. This update is a small way of us showing appreciation to our players for the amazing reception to the game.”

We still don't have an exact release date yet but the update is due over the summer, so it could land anywhere between June and September.

KitGuru Says: Chances are, some of the more ambitious ideas wouldn't be possible on some versions of the game. Hogwarts Legacy was also designed to run on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and many did end up buying those last-gen versions of the game.
