Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s current-gen patch arriving in May

Back in October last year, Bandai Namco announced that they would be updating the highly-popular Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in 2024 with a new current-gen release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With the game well over 7 years old at this point, the publisher has now given an official release date for Xenoverse 2’s upcoming patch.

Making the announcement on their website, the team at Bandai Namco said “The highly anticipated PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the hit game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 are coming on May 24, 2024!” adding that “These upgraded versions of the game are optimized for current generation systems and enable you to enjoy all the Xenoverse 2 fun with lots of improved graphics and partially reduced load times!”

While no direct specifics were shared regarding the update, the team did release a comparison video, allowing you to see the differences for yourself. Thanks to the game’s art style, Xenoverse 2 still looks pretty decent on last-gen consoles despite being over 7 years old. That said, it is exciting to see that fans will be getting a native next-gen version of the game – especially for free.

Beyond the current-gen patch, Bandai Namco reaffirmed that Xenoverse 2 will be getting new content as well, the details of which can be found HERE.

With Dragon Ball FighterZ now available natively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it was only a matter of time before the previously-announced patch for Xenoverse 2 would go live. While players will still have to wait a couple months, having a concrete release date is highly welcome.
